Cesar Rojas Alfonzo,

The LAGPA 2024 Conference, organized by the Latin America Group for Public Administration (LAGPA) — the regional group of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS) — and supported by Universidad del Valle (Colombia) and the National Institute of Public Administration (INAP) (Mexico), will be held in Mexico City, Mexico, from October 22 to 24, 2024.

This year’s conference will focus on the theme "New Perspectives and Challenges for Democracy and Governance in Latin America," addressing critical regional issues such as the crisis in democracy, the role of technology in public management, sustainable development, and regional security challenges. The event promises insightful discussions and the presentation of prestigious awards in public administration.

Conference Highlights:

  • Day 1: The focus will be on "The Crisis of Democracy: Government and Public Administration," tackling the pressing challenges faced by public administration in the region and exploring solutions to restore public trust in governmental institutions.

  • Day 2 and 3: The conference will feature specialized panels on key topics:

    • Panel 1: Public Management and Technology. This session will explore how advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence and digitalization, are transforming public administration in Latin America, enhancing efficiency and transparency.

    • Panel 3: Security and Justice Policies. Addressing the region's security challenges, including violence and organized crime, this panel will propose solutions to improve security and the rule of law.
